Right of Registration for .UK Domain Names
At 08:00hrs on 10 June 2014 Nominet, the UK registry, launched the new, shorter, sharper domain name .UK into the UK domain family. If you are an existing domain holder and own a unique .co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk, .net.uk, .plc.uk or .ltd.uk, a .UK domain name may already have been reserved especially for you until 10 June 2019.
If you have held a qualifying domain since before 08:00 on the 10th June 2014*, you will be the only registrant with a right to have the .UK equivalent registered in your name. The registration is done in the same way as for any other domain name.
You have until 10th June 2019 to exercise this right. The normal domain name registration process and registrar fees will apply. After this date, if you have not exercised your right, ANYONE wishing to register the .UK name will be able to do so, in the usual way.
DS4A want to ensure YOU keep the .UK domain you are entitled to have. That's why we would encourage anyone who has a qualifying domain under Nominets 'Right of Registration' to exercise their right now.
Just simply register the .UK qualifying domain, using the details for your existing domain that enables you to qualify. If you need any guidance, advice or help, please feel free to contact us.
